Whitney Houston Foundation for Children Inc.

The Whitney Houston Foundation For Children, Inc": started by Whitney in 1989, it is a non-profit organization, which aids homeless children, children with cancer and AIDS, as well as aiding youth to achieve self-empowerment. The foundation was awarded a VH-1 Honor in '95 for it's charitable work.

Whitney also donates time, energy and money to:

  • The United Negro College Fund

  • The Children's Diabetes Fund

  • St. Jude's Children's Hospital

  • and several noted AIDS-related organizations.

Whitney also performed for the homecoming troops of Desert Storm in 1991. This appeared on HBO: "Welcome Home Heroes with Whitney Houston "

Whitney made a surprise appearance and performed at the Rainforest benefit (organized by Sting) at Carnegie Hall, in 1994.
